10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls

September 3, 2015

“10 Million Steps to Prevent Falls” is a statewide effort to raise awareness of falls prevention for older adults. STEADY U Ohio aims to get at least 4,000 Ohioans to walk one mile or more in the name of falls prevention on or around National Falls Prevention Awareness Day, September 23, 2015.

Ohioans can participate by attending events like the two shown below, or by simply walking a mile by themselves or with family or friends during September, and posting a picture to social media with the hashtags #PreventFalls and #10MStepsOH. Additional events are posted on the Steady U website.

Montgomery County: The Wesley Community Center Senior Program is hosting an indoor walk on 9/23/15 at 10:30 a.m. Contact Angela Matlock (937-248-9017) for more information.

Walkers can assemble at the Senior Center Great Room at 11:45 am, or go to the starting point behind the Miami Township Fire-Rescue station at 225 Corry Street.
