Those in the helping professions often have high rates of stress that can become chronic and affect their quality of work and personal lives. Research studies focus on describing, comparing, and contrasting the concepts of burnout, compassion fatigue & secondary trauma symptoms for people in the helping professions. This workshop will address research findings and focus on risk factors for developing one of these conditions. Participants will be encouraged to discuss both preventions and/or treatment strategies in their own situations. The goal of the workshop is to assist professionals to continue to serve vulnerable populations more effectively and on a long-term basis.
