Social Security for Aging Industry Professionals – CEU Workshop

America’s largest domestic program is the financial foundation for our older adult community. Both personally and professionally, you cannot afford to not understand the benefits and options available for you, your consumers and your family.

Join us as Kelly Draggoo and Theresa Busher share Social Security essentials and updates with all those who work with our aging population – you are never too young nor too old to learn about Social Security and all the components involved including Medicare enrollment.

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand options for retirement benefits, such as early versus delayed filing, work limits and non-FICA pension interaction with Social Security;
  • Gain an awareness of online benefit planning resources, such as interactive benefit calculators, online Retirement Planner and the new MySocialSecuirty account;
  • Become better prepared to under family Social Security benefits such as spouse, divorced Spouse, children and survivor benefits;
  • Review Medicare A/B enrollment periods, including IEP, SEP and GEP, the application process and premium collection.

Presenters: Theresa Busher and Kelly Draggoo are Social Security Public Affairs Specialists who act as Social Security spokesmen, media liaisons and public educators. Theresa Busher has worked for SSA since 1993 and has experience with all Social Security benefit programs including retirement, disability and SSI. Kelly Draggoo joined SSA in 2009 and transitioned to the Public Affairs team in 2018.

The Ohio Board of Nursing accepts events approved for counselors and social workers for continuing nursing education.

Cost: $40 for CEUs, or $20 without CEUs.
