The Montgomery County Human Services Levy is up for renewal as Issue 1 on Nov. 2. Part of this levy funding supports the Agency’s ComCare program that provides home help and health services to more than 1,200 older Montgomery County residents who do not qualify for Medicaid but have a need for long-term care services in their homes.
According to Doug McGarry, Executive Director of the Area Agency on Aging, “the passage of the Human Services Levy will prevent the loss of more than half of local funding for human services. The Agency actively supports the levy not only for seniors but for all of its human services.” The Area Agency on Aging, PSA 2 Board of Trustees and Advisory Council commits to continuing the Agency tradition to support the renewal and enhance community awareness of the levy.
This renewal levy does not raise taxes and overall supports more than 50,000 residents across Montgomery County ever year providing critical Human Services that benefit the older adult population, protect at-risk children, serve communities fighting drug addiction, provide mental health services, help homeless and unemployed residents rebuild, and protect public health.
