Caregiver Nature Walks and Workshop in May

April 22, 2024

The Agency’s May activities for family caregivers include two Caregiver Nature Walks and one online Caregiver Workshop:

  • Miami County Parks District hosts a free Caregiver Nature Walk 11am-Noon Thursday, May 2, at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary, 2540 E. Statler Rd., Piqua. Join a park naturalist to discover the beautiful spring flowers at Garbry Big Woods Sanctuary. This walk is a great opportunity to get out in nature to learn together, and is neither strenuous nor fast-paced. The walk is followed by an opportunity to learn about Agency resources and meet other caregivers.
  • Five Rivers MetroParks hosts a free Caregiver Nature Walk 11am-Noon Tuesday, May 14, at Eastwood MetroPark, 1385 Harshman Road, Dayton. Meet Five Rivers and Agency staff members at the Main Entrance to walk through the park followed by a short social time meeting other caregivers and gathering information on programs and services. Light and healthy refreshments are provided by American Senior Benefits.
  • RN Susan Bledsoe and OT Christina Howell talk about Kettering Health Neuro Balance and Rehab Center’s programs and services in a free, online workshop meeting 11am-Noon on Wednesday, May 22. The workshop includes time for questions.

Contact Caregiver Services Coordinator Mary Hairston at 937-341-6944 or mhairston@info4seniors.org for more information. Registrations are requested for nature walks but drop-ins are welcome. Advance workshop registration is required by May 20 to receive the Zoom link.
