Caregiver Retreats to Offer Information and Relaxation

The Area Agency on Aging, Kettering Health Network, and the Alzheimer’s Association Miami Valley Chapter, are teaming up to present two free caregiver retreats this November in recognition of November as National Family Caregivers Month. Click here for the events flyer.

Saturday, November 9, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Aullwood Audubon Farm, Vandalia

Thursday, November 14, 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Years Ahead Health Center, Centerville

Pre-registration is required for planning of food and seating. Call the Kettering Health Network Call Center at (937) 558-3988 and indicate which caregiver retreat date you will attend.

The goal of these retreats is to provide one place for family caregivers to find answers to their questions, learn information from area social service organizations, and enjoy a healthy meal and socialization with other caregivers.  In addition, caregivers will enjoy relaxation activities, win door prizes, and take home a gift bag of small items and information.  The overall purpose is to provide a short respite from their caregiver duties and to let caregivers know that they are supported and are not alone.

Each retreat will consist of:

• A light an healthy meal thanks to sponsorship from Kettering Health Network;
• A panel discussion featuring a geriatrician, elder law attorney, social worker, and hospice social worker;
• Opportunity to visit local social service organization booths;
• Relaxation activities; and
• Door prizes and a gift bag.

We hope that area caregivers will take this time for themselves and join us during National Family Caregivers Month.
