Not Friend or Family: Maintaining Healthy Boundaries in the Helping Professions – Ethical Considerations and Practical Challenges

Working in health care and social services often places professionals in the unique position of consumers wanting to treat them like family or friends. Employers, however, want staff to work efficiently and not form personal ties. This can make social workers, nurses, and other professionals feel caught in the middle balancing the different expectations and their own personal needs while getting work done to everyone’s satisfaction. This workshop will discuss the ethical issues involved, and strategies to help establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with senior adults and their families.

3.0 Social Worker CEUs. Send your registration form and fee before the 09/11/19 deadline. Late registrations are accepted if space is available, and must include a $10 late fee. A different topic is offered by this presenter in the afternoon, and you may register for one or both workshops.

This training meets the Ohio CSWMFT Board ethics training requirement for social workers.
