Maintaining a healthy, positive nutritional status is critical for healthy aging, quick and full recovery after acute illnesses, and for successful management in most chronic conditions. Inadequate nutrition is a self-perpetuating problem because it can be both a cause and consequence of poor health and poverty. This workshop presents and discusses the individual and community impacts from nutrition and disparities in social determinants of health (financial, social, familial, educational, and physical environment) manifested in an individual’s unique circumstances. Ideas will be discussed on how attendees can help to make a positive impact on their communities, particularly for senior adults.
Presenter is Bryan Petkoff, RD, LD.
