Staying Safe in Extreme Weather

January 17, 2024

Our region has been experiencing extremely frigid weather caused by the Polar Vortex and Arctic Blast. Take a moment to check that your older neighbors and family members are prepared with supplies for warmth and safety with bottled water for continued hydration, food that doesn’t require cooking, warm blankets and clothing, enough quantities of medications on-hand, pet food and supplies, flashlights and extra batteries, a battery-operated radio, etc. Check regularly throughout the cold weather to ensure their personal safety and help to keep their walkways and driveways cleared if possible.

The Ohio Department of Aging provides tips on checking on neighbors and on emergency preparedness for older adults and caregivers.
