Former Governor Bob Taft and Former First Lady Hope Taft of Spring Valley were inducted into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame on September 23 at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
The Ohio Department of Aging (AGE) honors older Ohioans who represent a positive image of aging, serve their communities with distinction, and have significant accomplishments in their professions and vocations. More than 500 older Ohioans have been inducted since 1977, each of whom have enriched the state through lifelong service and leadership.
The eight members of this year’s class range in age from 61 to 94 honored for decades of inspiring work in their communities and includes a career nurse and healthcare professional, a teaching artist, a trailblazer in agriculture, an advocate for older adults, a conservation leader, an economic development and community service volunteer, and a former governor and first lady who have dedicated their lives to public service.
They reside across the state, from southwest near Lebanon to the eastern edge of the state near Youngstown.
