Wellness Programs

The Area Agency on Aging offers free wellness programs presented either virtually or at community locations throughout our nine-county region. Click on the program names below for more information.

Healthy Living is a program proven to improve the health and well-being for people living with long-term/chronic health conditions. You set your own goals, your own priorities, and follow your own timeline week-by-week to find what steps work best for you. We offer three effective, evidence-based programs developed by the Self-Management Resource Center:

  • Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions addresses how to manage day-to-day concerns and symptoms for issues including arthritis, heart or lung disease, obesity, high blood pressure, cancer, depression and more.
  • Healthy Living with Diabetes focuses on managing and preventing Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Healthy Living with Chronic Pain addresses living with daily pain and strategies toward helping to alleviate its impact on each day.

Aging Mastery Program includes 10 sessions presented by experts that focus on managing health, remaining economically secure, and contributing actively to society. This is currently limited to two contracted sites: East End Community Center and United Senior Services.

The Agency contracts with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley to offer Matter of Balance that emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls and increase activity levels. This program is also offered through the Preble County Council on Aging.

The Agency contracts with Kettering Health to offer Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week workshop for family caregivers to learn how to care for themselves while caring for others.

Additional programs hosted or sponsored by the Agency may be listed when available.

Upcoming workshops are listed below. Please check back throughout the year as more workshops are scheduled. We appreciate your interest and hope to meet you at a future workshop!

Please contact Karin Nevius (or call 937-341-3001) for additional information, if interested in training to be a workshop leader, or partnering with the Agency as a workshop host site.
