Wellness Programs

The Area Agency on Aging offers free wellness programs presented either virtually or at community locations throughout our nine-county region. Since workshops require a minimum number of participants, we don’t schedule many workshops through the holiday months. New workshops will begin in January 2024 so please check back in December and throughout the year as more workshops are scheduled. We appreciate your interest and hope to meet you at a future workshop!

Please email knevius@info4seniors.org or call 937-341-3001 for additional information, if interested in training to be a workshop leader, or partnering with the Agency as a workshop host site.

Healthy Living are 6-week workshops proven to improve health and well-being for people living with long-term/chronic health conditions. You set your own goals, your own priorities, and follow your own timeline week-by-week to find what steps work best for you. Three effective, evidence-based programs developed by the Self-Management Resource Center are offered:

  • Healthy Living with Chronic Conditions to manage day-to-day concerns and symptoms for long-term/ongoing health concerns.
  • Healthy Living with Diabetes to manage and prevent prediabetes and Type 2 Diabetes.
  • Healthy Living with Chronic Pain to help alleviate the impact of chronic pain on each day.

Aging Mastery Program consists of 10 sessions featuring subject experts focusing on various facets of health, economic security, volunteering, personal relationships and more. This is currently offered at East End Community Center, Urbana-Champaign County Senior Center, and United Senior Services.

The Agency contracts with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley to offer Matter of Balance that emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls and increase activity levels.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a six-week workshop for family caregivers to learn how to care for themselves while caring for others.

Additional programs hosted or sponsored by the Agency may be listed when available. New workshops will begin in January 2024 so please check back at year-end as workshops are scheduled.
