The Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) begins implementing its Next Generation MyCare program this month, providing coordinated care for Ohioans who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare.
The Agency contracts with Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Buckeye Health Plan, CareSource, and Molina Healthcare of Ohio to coordinate services for people aged 60 and older who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid. This program applies to residents of Clark, Greene, and Montgomery counties, and is expanding to residents of Champaign, Darke, Logan, Miami, Preble, and Shelby counties. Next Generation MyCare aims to provide more coordinated care, increase efficiency, and save taxpayer dollars.
Eligible Ohioans receive a letter from the Ohio Department of Medicaid explaining how to enroll in the program and choose a health plan. To allow for a smooth transition, the Next Generation MyCare program is rolling out in two phases: Starting now with the 29 counties where MyCare Ohio is already active and available; and expanding statewide as quickly as possible to counties new to MyCare. This phased timeline allows ODM to work with providers and advocates to minimize disruptions.
