Staying Safe in Winter Weather

December 13, 2024

As we experience winter weather, take a moment to check that your older neighbors and family members are prepared with supplies for warmth and safety with bottled water for continued hydration, food that doesn’t require cooking, warm blankets and clothing, enough quantities of medications on-hand, pet food and supplies, flashlights and extra batteries, a battery-operated radio, etc. Check regularly throughout the cold weather to ensure their safety and help to keep their walkways and driveways cleared if possible.

The Ohio Department of Aging provides tips on checking on neighbors and on emergency preparedness for older adults and caregivers.
