Governor DeWine Announces Welcome Home Ohio Program

December 14, 2023

To improve access to affordable housing across the state of Ohio, Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor, Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director, Lydia Mihalik introduced the new $150 million Welcome Home Ohio program.

“Housing needs are present all across Ohio. Through this program, we have the opportunity to support new investments in housing construction that will help cultivate vibrant neighborhoods and stimulate economic vitality,” DeWine said.

To increase affordable housing, the program will provide $100 million in grants to landbanks to purchase, rehabilitate or build qualifying, income-eligible housing properties. An additional $50 million will go toward nonrefundable tax credits to eligible landbanks and developers for qualifying rehabs and new construction.

The Welcome Home Ohio program will be administered by The Ohio Department of Development and will begin accepting applications on January 9, 2024. To learn more, click here.
