OSHIIP Helps Ohioans Navigate Medicare Open Enrollment

October 9, 2026

The Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) launched its annual Medicare Checkup events to help Ohioans navigate Medicare’s open enrollment, taking place October 15 through December 7. During this period, Ohioans can review their current coverage and make plan selections for 2027.

OSHIIP offers both in-person and virtual events throughout Ohio. These sessions cover the basics of Medicare, explain changes and provide unbiased guidance on how to review and compare plans. Attendees also learn about prescription drug coverage options, financial assistance programs and strategies to reduce out-of-pocket costs.

Prior to October 15, events are focused on education, helping participants understand the Medicare landscape and preparing for enrollment. Once the enrollment period begins, OSHIIP includes personalized plan comparisons and one-on-one counseling to assist individuals in making informed decisions. With Medicare plans changing each year, Ohioans should review benefits, costs, and coverage details carefully. Information on 2027 Medicare plans are available now at medicare.gov.

Ohioans may view the schedule of events at insurance.ohio.gov. The website also features an interactive calendar to book virtual one-on-one counseling sessions. OSHIIP representatives can be reached at 800-686-1578 and oshiipmail@insurance.ohio.gov to assist.
