Ohioans whose health would be seriously impacted by disconnected utility services can plan ahead by communicating special needs with their physician, and investigating the Medical Certification Waiver. Residential utility consumers served by a regulated utility company (electric, natural gas, water) can use the Medical Certification Waiver to delay a service disconnection. Medical certifications can also be used when service disconnection would make operation of needed medical or life support equipment impossible or impractical. More information on how to utilize and apply is available on the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel website. Click here for a fact sheet to learn more.
